Hi, I’m Tangie Arrington, and my passion for teaching young readers and writers has been a part of me for as long as I can remember. Long before I entered a classroom, I was playing “school” with my dolls and cousins, always as the teacher. My life has always revolved around nurturing children’s growth—from running a home daycare to eventually stepping into formal education. My own school experiences were less than ideal, with environments that felt unwelcoming and uninspired. This made me determined to create something better for the students I would one day teach. I wanted them to feel seen, valued, and excited to learn, in ways I hadn't always felt.
When I began my teaching career, I quickly realized how challenging it would be to create that environment with the limited resources available. Many students lacked even the basics, and teachers often had to share essential materials. But this only pushed me to get creative. I spent countless hours collaborating with fellow teachers, reaching out to parents, investing my own resources, and researching new ways to teach without all the tools. I learned to be resourceful and resilient, finding ways to make sure each child could learn effectively.
Through these experiences, I came to understand that no two students learn the same way. I’m committed to tailoring my teaching approach to meet each child’s unique needs, drawing on my background in early childhood and elementary education to guide them step by step. My goal is to empower every young learner, giving them the tools and confidence to succeed.
